How To Install The Scholastic F.I.R.S.T App On A Chromebook

This article explains how to install and open the Scholastic F.I.R.S.T "Ooka Island" app on a student Chromebook. This is done to solve performance issues with the Scholastic F.I.R.S.T browser-based application.

Installing the Chromebook App

1) From the Chromebook desktop, open the Google Play store

2) Search for "Ooka Island", then click on the "Scholastic F.I.R.S.T" result

3) Click Install and wait for the application to finish downloading

Launching the Scholastic F.I.R.S.T application

1) Open the myBCBE Student Portal (click on the yellow icon at the bottom of the screen), then click on the Scholastic tile.

2) Launch Scholastic F.I.R.S.T

3) Then, click the Launch button

4) A prompt to open the F.I.R.S.T Chromebook App will appear. CHECK THE BOX TO REMEMBER THE CHOICE AND CLICK OPEN

This will launch the application and complete the process. Repeat steps 1-3 in the "Launching the Scholastic F.I.R.S.T application" section to access application again.
