Technology Purchasing Guidance

PLEASE NOTE: Regardless of what funds you use, technology purchases for hardware (PCs, laptops, printers, etc.) and software must have ET Services' approval and follow these guidelines. Technology purchases for consumables (e.g., toner, ink) or simple external storage devices (e.g., thumb drives, monitors, memory cards, etc...) do not need to be approved by ET Services unless you are purchasing these items with State Teacher Technology, E-Rate, or System Technology funds.

Also note, that any computer or tablet (ipad for example) that is purchased should be shipped to the Ed Tech department for introduction into the inventory system, and for device setup. Upon completion of the setup the device(s) will be delivered to the appropriate school/location by Ed Tech. Ship To address is:

Apple Products
Schools/Departments should email Curt Smith or Jeremy King to get a custom quote, and then email Purchase Orders to either Curt Smith (rcsmith@bcbe.org) or Jeremy King (jking@bcbe.org) to place the order. Orders will be shipped to the Ed Tech office in Loxley, inventoried and configured, and then delivered to the purchaser.

*Note - As of January 2023, purchasing Apple Products via Class Wallet (CIS funds) is no longer allowed per the Business and Finance Dept. If Apple products are needed in a classroom, the local school should make the purchase.

Windows Computers, Chromebooks, Chromeboxes
