Why Wireless Printers Are Not Allowed in Schools
We understand the convenience of wireless printing, but due to several challenges, we do not allow configuring them on the school network. Here's why:
-
Security and Accountability: Wireless printing allows students anonymous control over print jobs. This raises concerns about inappropriate content being printed, with no way to identify the culprit. Additionally, students could misuse resources by printing excessive amounts.
-
Limited IP Addresses: Each wireless printer consumes a valuable IP address, a limited resource in our schools.
-
Wi-Fi Interference: We've observed instances where wireless printers disrupt Wi-Fi signals, hindering students' laptop connectivity in classrooms.
For these reasons, we recommend using the designated school printers. They offer a more secure and controlled printing environment.
